What will the scale-fairy bring me tomorrow?

I was happy to see the scale show me a continued downward movement since yesterday, but I got on and off about half a dozen times, and with slightly different results each time!! In any case, they were all lower than yesterday's no., so I've still accepted it as a real drop, and recorded it here.

However, after today's meals, I'm not sure what the scale's gonna show tomorrow!

For breakfast, had my cereal and milk, and a piece of part-skim mozzarella (I'm liking this stuff a little too much now!), and then over lunch, had my home-cooked vegi casserole, and then fell to the temptation of having a piece of my colleague's lunch part of a flatbread with some cesar dressing on it..not a big piece, but still was carbs, so not sure if it'll show up on the scale...

Other than that, had a plum on my way home, left a little earlier to go home and go to the gym, before showering and heading off to a dinner. Did my week 2 (day 1) of my C2K run. Was initially a little trepeditious, but when I read it was only 6 runs, I felt I'd be ok...It was a little hard, and towards the end my stomach/chest was hurting a little (couldn't exactly localize the area of the pain), and not sure if it was coz I was drinking a lot of water, and/or coz I ate something before working out (walnuts & a ricecake), which I usually don't do. Anyhow, I managed fine, was sweating, but not completely done for, so all in all, not as scared of day 2 of this run in a couple of days.

After gym and shower, went to my Mexican dinner, and man! everything looked so decadent on the menu--but was either fried, smothered in oil, cheese, or dough-y. I consulted with the waitress and settled for veggie fajitas. However, my friend who'd ordered the same, and got his before mine, found that his fajitas were smothered in cheese--kinda like enchiladas or chimichangas. Now this really scared me! I don't even like fajitas, but they were supposed to be a safe compromise, so what's the point of sacrificing my favorites of enchildas or mexican pizza etc., and settling for fajitas if they were going to be as unhealthy as the former!? So I quickly asked the waitresss to see if they could modify my order, and luckily they were able to do so..so mine came w/o cheese. However, there was still the oil in the veggies to contend with (I could see the oil specks, so it must be a significant amount), and I had a little bit of the guacomole, and had whole pinto beans in place of the refried beans, and two corn tortillas. While waiting for the meal, I also had 5-6 tortilla chips and salsa. Despite finishing both tortillas, I didn't feel that full, probably because of no proteins in the meal..however, I have no idea how many points to count for dinner, not knowing the hidden stuff that must have gone in the meal (e.g. oil on the tortilla?, fat in the beans? points of tortilla chips? etc.)

Whatever. Hoping that the workout and some banked points on and off in the week will take care of this...However, there is the unsettling feeling that despite one's best effort of watching out, counting, monitoring stuff, and making switches and substitutions, it's still impossible to get a real sense of what kinda stuff you're getting at restaurants....a little disconcerting in the face of trying to gain control on foods etc.

Other than that, not much else to report on that was significant. There's still the usual student-related emotional drama, but I'm trying to not let that affect me too much. Working out helps.

Meals of the day:
Breakfast: Fibre one cereal and skim milk (2)
1 oz part-skim mozz (2)
Lunch: veggie casserole (with fat free cheese and fat free cream of mushroom) (4)
1 small piece flat bread (3)

Snack: 1 plum (1)
walnuts (2)
1 ricecake (1)

Dinner: Veggie Fajitas: 2 large corn tortilla (4)
oil in stir fried veggies (3)
tortilla chips (3) and salsa
little bit guacamole (2)
pinto beans (2)

Total points: 29 ?

Work out: 30 mins. of walk/run intervals, day 1 of week 2 C2K (6 runs * 90 secs, + walk for 21 mins)= 217 K burned

I know what you mean about eating at restaurants. I love it when you can check a restaurant's website and look at the nutrition guide, however, many restaurants don't have this so guessing comes into play. I really don't like guessing the points because sometimes I have no clue what it actually is and I know that I usually guess too low. Don't worry about not doing a good job. The kinds of foods you are eating are pretty good. It is okay to splurge once in a while (I know I do). PLUS you are doing exercise which I have zero time for and hate that I'm not doing it. You are doing a great job. You might want to ease up on weighing yourself so many times a day. Your weight is going to fluxuate, don't worry. I weigh myself every Monday morning. I find that it really gives me a perspective on how I am doing. If you weigh yourself once a day that should be plenty. Don't beat yourself up if the scale goes up a bit. Weight fluxuates. Keep doing what you are doing. You have come so far! P.S. Doesn't Fibre 1 cereal ROCK??? I have the honey cluster one and it is so delicious! Love it!!

Sounds like you did a fantastic job in the circumstances! It's so hard to keep track when you eat out, but you did the best you could, especially with that quick alteration to the dish - good work!! The scale fairy seems to be working her magic so far - you're having a great week - looking good for this week's ATW weigh-in! GO TRAILBLAZERS!!!

I like the Scale Fairy! It is like waking up and seeing what treat they've left you :D I think you made excellent Mexican choices all round, and one oily meal does not a weight-gain make. I am sooo excited about your running, and I'm cyber-cheering for you on the cyber-sidelines each day! You have got it together!!!!!!

The cheese is making a play for a touchdown... he's at the 40, the 30, the 20... but wait!... 08willbegreat's come out of nowhere!... HOH!... she sacks the cheese on the 10 yard line!... what a play! Seriously, if you think about what you COULD have ordered and what you WOULD have ordered had you not been on the this healthy journey, you did Fantastic (and yes, that is with a capital F)!!! And way to go on day 1 of week 2 of C25K!!!! You are rockin' it, girl!
