I am doing pretty good right now on my diet plan. I have not gone over the allotted amount of 2000 calories for 13 days. This is what OAers call Abstinence. I feel pretty abstinent right now, I have not been in the junk food in almost two weeks and it feels pretty damn good. I wouldn't say I am perfect, I slipped a snack into a couple meals here and there, but for the most part, the only thing I am doing differently is following a food plan: 3 meals a day, 0 snacks in between, and 1 day at a time. OA calls it the 301 plan, which is easy to remember. If I have a snack that is unhealthy, I just make it part of the meal, the dessert. I DO NOT do this often, I have done it twice in the last 13 days, and I am sure I will do it once or twice more in the next 13, but the most important factor for me is staying under those 2000 calories. And hey, in just these past 13 days, I've lost 6 more pounds. A total of 19. I am proud of myself!

Wow, thats great! I love snacking so this would not be for me lol. But, if it works for you, then enjoy the loss! Hope you get to feeling better, having a cold is not fun at all!

Hi, I've done OA before also and understand completely. I have been off sugar and white flour products for almost a month. I tried only eliminating sugar, but found that the breads were too much for me to eat in moderation. I overeat on them also. I've learned some things recently that OA doesn't teach as well. Eat protein with every meal and that will keep the hunger away. Also, while you are trying to determine what your body needs, it's ok to work in a healthy snack if you are truly having hunger pangs. I've learned that finding the right combination in your diet may take some time to figure out. Each day is a day of discovery--what works and what does not work for you. We are each individuals and what works for me may not work for you. You are the only one that can determine that. I don't look at dieting failures as failures anymore, but as learning opportunities. They are opportunities to learn what will work the best for me for a lifetime. None of it is easy. I wish you the best success.

Congratulations on going strong for 13 days! Glad you are feeling better off the junk food. Eating healthy is its own reward.

Thanks guys. Today I ate a dessert that was a bit rich for my newfound palate, so I didn't eat it all. It actually fit into my intake, but I had to cut down on dinner, but I did manage to fit a Starbuck's (bottled) frappuchino into my dinner. I guess somewhere down the line I WILL turn away from sugar altogether, just not ready to do that yet. Anyway, still doing well, thinking of getting in some exercise this week. Wish me luck!
