on the road and snowed in...

Left this morning to go to an out-of-town conference. Didn't end up going to the gym after all, but did take the time to have a quick breakfast and pack couple of fruits to tide me over until a decent lunch. Mid-way, we got hit with a big snow-storm, and by the time I reached the conference, there was no time to stop for lunch as I had to go give my talk in 10 mins! Was starting to get dehydrated as I didn't have any water (again!). At about 4 pm or so, after my talk, I stopped by to get some lunch, but since nothing other than pastries were available, I skipped those and had some coffee and a fruit bowl to tide me over until a decent dinner. By now the snow storm had picked up in full glory, so my colleagues and I decided to go to the nearest place for dinner which turned out to be cheesecake factory! Well, I could have had a salad there, but I just threw in the towel and decided to get a "real" meal, i.e., and eggplant sandwitch (with a bun, mayo, oil and all!), and it came with fries--and I did have quite a few of those (even though I gave away a majority). Skipped dessert, but enjoyed a glass of wine.

Overall tally:
Good: avoided bad lunch and breakfast, pastries etc., and dessert
Bad: didn't try hard enough to get my morning workout (a little planning last night would have allowed a little time this morning to get in a workout). Also, could have opted for a salad and some other healthy stuff, or at least skipped the fries, but ah well.
And definitely avoidable, I should have prevented the dehydration and kept a bottle of water with me!

Meals for today:
Breakfast: the usual cereal and skim milk (3)
and a little bit of the leftover chickpea salad (3)

snack: 1 plum (1)
lunch: 1 coffee with cream (1)
1 fruit bowl (2)

Dinner: Eggplant sandwitch on a bun, mayo, mozzarella(15-25?)
bread 2 pieces (2), fries (6)
wine 1 glass (2)

Total points: 35

All in all, not so bad. Definitely coulda been worse! Regroup, refocus and soldier on. Tomorrow is another day!

I've foung that those "Laughing Cow" cheese sections ( I use the Light version) help a lot when I have them to fruit, or even with morning cereal. Maybe you could throw a few sections in your briefcase --they'll do fine without refrigeration for the day. I really need protein to help me with hunger. Even a high calorie sweet snack (candy, chips) doesn't work for me -- it's got to be protein. I also use Western Bagels with that same cheese for breakfast. That combo of fiber and protein I find really filling.
