Okay, after trying desperately to wake up at 6 am to get in a workout before the kids woke up, and doing nothing but laying in bed hitting the snooze button for an hour, I have decided that morning workouts are just not going to happen for me. I don't like to workout directly after work, that's my time to be a mom and hang out w/ my kids. So that leaves nighttime.

Now I know that you're not supposed to workout right before bed. But I did 30 mins on the elliptical machine as soon as the boys were in bed. And let me tell you, I beat the living crap out of that poor machine! Best workout I've had on it yet.

I am a nightowl, I know this. To try to change that is futile. What I end up doing is spending an hour every morning, not really awake and not really asleep. What a waste! I don't have an hour of time to blow off like that.

So I will try working out at night as soon as the boys are in bed. Then I can just give myself that extra to sleep in the morning, which is what my body is telling me to do. Wish me luck!

Sounds like a great plan. Many find they enjoy a night workout. We all have to do what works for us. I've been telling myself I would try working out before work for a year. It's probably never going to happen :) I like working out in the evening and that's that. Sleep is good too :)

Do what works for you, I used to work out in the morning but that was before I had a full time job and my kids were older. Now I do it after work because there's no way I can get up in the morning to do it before work(I'm just too lazy first thing up.;)

ha, ha, ha, Amy that made me laugh. For the last week or so I´ve set my alarm for 5 to go workout before work, and I´ve snoozed until my regular workout time. I even told my hubby I´d wake up, thinking that would add some accountability. Nothing. And like you, when I get home I am a mommy until the kids go to bed. So besides the occasional bike ride with the kids, I´m also considering working out at night. But I don´t have a treadmill, or space to put it, so I´ll have to go to the gym...I don´t know what I´m more lazy about, morning or evenings.

Hey BCB, get a headlamp. It's a little light on an elastic strap, You wear it on your head so you can walk/run outside at night in the dark. Unless you live in a very urban area, then maybe not so safe. But headlamps are great creations, there are so many uses for them besides nighttime running.
