A sensational quick Southern dish that's healthy and extremely nourishing.
Ingredients
Directions
- Spray deep skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat pan over high heat.
- Cook chicken in hot skillet, stirring, for 3–5 minutes or until no longer pink. Reduce heat.
- Add tomatoes with juice, low sodium chili sauce, green pepper, celery, onion, garlic, basil, parsley, crushed red pepper, and salt. Bring to boil and reduce heat. Simmer covered for 10 minutes.
- Serve over hot cooked rice or whole wheat pasta.

This is a very yummy recipe, I served it over brown rice, and added extra tobasco sauce for a "kick"

Leave out step 4. In phase one you can't have rice or pasta (even whole wheat).

I wanted to try this but, I'm not sure what chili sauce is?

Sounds very good! Of course no rice or pasta for phase 1, but wwpasta could be used for phase 2.
And you can replace the chili sauce with a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste in case the chili sauce has sugar in it.
One thing I would think about adding is celery. Authentic Creole food usually starts with "the holy trinity" which is onion, bell pepper and celery, and we always add the parsley when the dish is finished when giving it a last stir before serving.

I really liked this recipe. Very easy and alot of flavor. The best part was my whole family enjoyed it too.

I grew up on chicken creole and even though this was good - I like a little more kick in mine. I'd recommend a little hot sauce or cayenne pepper. Great recipe overall though!

For me it has to have LOADS of spice. I put in some jalapenos etc plus some tobasco. Yum!
