Performance: gaining 0.2 lb a week

Goal Weight
125.0 lb
Still to go: 17.0 lb
I quit Smoking and Suddenly found myself Over Weight for the first time in my Entire Life. 2nd to the eldest out of 6 siblings... all of them have diabeties or some kind of blood pressure issues. I was always the smallest of the family...never had a weight issue always petite.
I've tried every diet out there that promised "amazing Results" in "a few days or Overnight".... bla bla blah.... what it got me was FAT and Fatter... Got fat where Fat never grew before... and what's up with the sweating at night now? Geesh! My thighs are touching...eeeeek! I can feel my BACK Touching my HIPS! OMG!! went from a size 5/6 to 14 in just 8 months!
So the final staw was when I stopped to pick up Chinese food and the lady behind the counter points to her tummy and asks me in broken English, "You have baby?" Nope, that's just FAT, I Quit Smoking!.... it's all FAT.. I called and made a doctor's appoitment the next morning.
so now the Doc has got me on this Atkins diet... I tried this before... but wasn't told a year ago that 15 of the 20 Carbs needed to be Veggies and not Atkins Bars or Shakes or other snacks.. and that meats meant steaks, pork, tuna, fish, chicken and not Processed crap like Vienna sausages and Fried Pork Rines, beef jerky.... So last year's attempt failed misserably.
This time, I bought the book and signed up at the web site today and someone today recommended this site to track progress... so I'll try it here too.
We start off officially tomorrow since this morning I forgot about Irish Cream Creamer in my coffee was 5 Grams EACH... I had two cups off coffee... that was 10 grams out of my 20 for the day... I messed up bad already. So I got the Atkins Vanilla shake... make it cold and it works like Creamer in the morning with only a itsy bitsy portion of the grams. (whole shake is 2g) Splenda pack =1g and I forgot that one too.
Maybe this will work... I just need the will power to keep at it and do it the right way this time.

carbs and fiber
Per the book you take the total Carbs minus the Dietary Fiber to get the NET # Grams. During induction, try to stay at 20 NET GRams... with 12-15 of that being from Veggies. This was the misstake I did a year ago, I didn't know to have 12-15 NET Carbs from Veggies... needless to say, I gained more than I wanted.
I quit smoking and knew I was going to gain a little... did'nt realize by doing the Atkins diet wrong would cause me to gain it. Last time I weighed this much I was 9 months pregnant with younger son who is now 23 years old. This time, I'm under a doctor's watch and I bought the Book to go with it.
Good Luck to You Delani!

i have a new british friend...advise
You just described my mother in law. She too was legally blind and from Liverpoole, England during the war. When she got to the point where she couldn't tell if something was clean, we would just tell her it needed to be done and she could talk to us and tell us stories of England while we did the work, she was always appreciative of our help. she never complained and would never say a bad thing about anyone.
Just tell her that you understand her situation and would like to help out and just do it. And as far as the hubby is concerned, you should bring him with you one visit... I have found these people from England and that part of history are always very charming and giving and never boring. My mother in law never met a stranger. I'm sure you'll be glad you did. Just try it.

Can't handle Atkins. Needing advice.. Again.. lol
I tried Atkins a year ago, it did not work for me because I was doing it wrong. I actually gained weight...eating processed meats, pork rines, beef jerky... I really hate that stuff but ate it anyway because my friend told me I could eat all I wanted and not gain weight. I should have bought the book!
After this week, the doctor set me down and explained how it really works, 12-15 of your NET Carbs needed to be Veggies and this was the reason I didn't lose any weight last year. I had also quit smoking prior to starting Atkins last year. I promised her I'd give it a try again, I've got nothing to lose but Weight at this point. I bought the book and this time I'm following it.
Try using the Atkins Vanilla Shake in your coffee instead of creamer works good too.

7 NEW RULES for the Gym
I'm Lucky... regarding GYM Memberships... we have a church that has a Gym in the back of it. Donations only and no contract! Zumba Classes are $5 bucks each, first one free for locals. They have everything except showers.
I had a Gym Memebership once... broke my toe and doc said I had to quit... Gym threatened to charge me a fee for cancelling the contract early, I ended up with the Doctor's letter to get out of it without having a fee.
Never Ever sign up for a Contracted Membership ever again
