I lost about 30 lbs a few years ago and mistakenly took a break that lasted far too long and unfortunately I gained every bit back and a few more. I went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic last year(2012) and I barely made the hike to the remote village where we would serve. I vowed that if I returned I would have to lose those 30 lbs and get in shape. I kept putting it off, but finally with the help of a 5K run group at my church, I got back on track. I have lost almost 20 lbs since I started on March 18, 2012.
I'm running my first 5K this weekend!! Although, I'm very slow, I'm hoping to run the whole way and give me a time to work from for my next 5K. I actually, can't believe I said that... "my next 5K". Did I tell you I HATE running? As soon as the 5K is over, I have 60 more days before my trip and I'm hoping to continue my progress and shed even more pounds. I plan on continuing to run at least one day a week with my running buddy and doing Turbo Fire workouts the rest of the week at home.
Accountability and keeping a food journal are key, and that's why this website is so important!! Keeping the app handy on my phone really helps to keep me aware of what I put into my body. My goal weight is 160, but I would love to work to get more fit and tone. I'm counting on both happening with diet and exercise and a great group to hold be accountable!!
