22 December 2015

The end of the year is a place where I use to evaluate my decisions the previous 11.5 months. I use it to decide how to do better next year. I went into 2015 not really having a plan, or a set goal. I was in a relationship, I was happy with the status quo. I was just...going with the flow, doing things as they came, and generally just being a happy person.

This explains my weight gain. I did several new things in 2015, but in the end, it didn't balance out my happy eating/drinking/weight gain.

I started kickboxing, which was super-helpful, and led me to get a lot of muscle, get stronger, and started me down an ok path of eating. However, once my 10 weeks was over, I didn't go to class consistently, and I never really kept cooking. I feel like my transition from smoothies in the morning to oatmeal with protein powder led me to gain more weight. I'll be reevaluating my morning breakfast for 2016.

I've been doing more yoga, but again, not consistently. I have been letting my desire to play volleyball get the better of me. It's weird, I'm great at that sport. My stamina and speed has improved a lot. But my health and my body fat percentage hasn't really changed. In fact, it's increased.

I've made five major goals for 2016. Yes. Five. Not the 50 I'm used to. Here they are:

1. No booze in 2016.
2. Follow the 10 FMD rules after my cleanse in January for the entirety of 2016.
3. My water intake must be half my body weight in ounces. Every. Day.
4. Read more. TV less.
5. Be Happy.

That's it! Those are my biggest and only goals in 2016. Yes, I want to save more money. Yes, I want to lose weight. Yes, I want to find a relationship and be with the right person. But these five things are my building blocks to being happy with myself again. I was happiest with myself in 2013 when I was following a pretty rigid diet. I was happiest with myself when I was hydrated and alcohol-free.

And the good news with all of these goals? I've done them before. Consistently. For at least 90 days. I gave up alcohol in 2013. I did FMD for 90 days in 2013. And I drank a ton of water that year.

Time for a repeat :)
