another newbie...
Hello Jenny, and Welcome!

I'm 'kinda' new here myself, only 2 months, and I seldom come on the site. I'm not as old as you, but if you would like to add me as a buddy, so we could give each other support, I think that would be fun.

As for diet suggestions, and such, I don't know how expensive things are in bangkok versus things in the US, but vegetarian foods tend to be the best for you. As in, fruits, veggies, and OMG, NO SOY. (If you want more info on that I can link to an article, but soy is surprisingly bad for people.) Fish is one of the best proteins to go with. Lamb is the fattiest, next is pork and turkey. So, I personally think beef, chicken, and fish are best.

Also, something I have myself implemented, is doing smaller goals. I'm also not sure what exact weight I want to go to. 130-145 is my range, so I was given the suggestion of doing smaller goals for myself. And, ugh, you have no long it took to steaily go down. I still tend to fluctuate up after I eat something really heavy. My problem is more in limiting myself, even with the healthy foods.

So, another part of starting into the diet, is finding whats wrong with your current one. You said you do stuff at the gym, so you seem to be well set in that aspect, I think. So why don't you tell what you think about your diet is worst for you? Is it the portions, or bad food choices? Or something else? A slow metabolism? (green tea helps great with that, btw)

Teen looking to be healthy
@ Lotus: My height, is 5"7', I believe, I'm not 100% sure. And that would be totally awesome! I was just looking for some similar ages first. Should/May I add you as a friend?

@ Juno: Small goals: That sounds like a good idea, I'll try it. Life right now: Musical Theater Smile Sports: I swim in the summer, and usually run/jog, but then it got very cold, and now I /sometimes/ go on the exercise bike we own. I tried out for the basketball team, but didn't make it. So no sports atm. Favorite foods: I don't really have any. I like soup and fruit juice and tea and regular fruits. My parents don't cook so much as they used to, when they do I have a lot of influence on what it is. Overweight? They might not like to hear it but yes.
Juno, can I add you as well?
And is that Latin in your signature?

@ Sararay: Unfortunately, a personal trainer is not something I have time or money for - I've thought about it, and ideally, I know it would be best. I've gotten most of my workout ideas from my godmother who is a pediatrician. With the gym the problem is that I couldn't get a ride, and there is a high probability that I might get stuck there because of a lack of a ride. Thank you very much though for also recommending mini-goals.

Teen looking to be healthy
I'm 15, almost 16, and just joined this site. I've been trying to lose weight after being chubby for most of my childhood, I lost 20 pounds in a sudden burst of being more active, eating better, and just being healthy. But the jump from 180 to 160 has been around for a while, and I'm not as psyched anymore about those 20 pounds.

I'm not so sure about how much weight I would like to lose, I looked and for a while, my goal was always 145, but as I got closer to 160, it seems less alluring, I'm thinking 135/140, but I'm not so sure that I may be pushing it. On all the BMI sites I looked at, 135 was on the lower end of the scale of healthy weights.

Sooo, I'm hoping to just go and see where I get, I'm looking for some friends, preferably teens, who aren't looking to lose very much weight, more in the range of 10-30 pounds.

Any advice you'd like to give me is loved, since I'm new at this site.
