I'm a 47 year old mom of 4 girls (26, 24, 19 and 18). I work as a Youth Minister and have been surrounded by the ever present youth ministry diet of pizza, pop, and chips! This has taken it's toll over the past 15 years and now that I topped out over 200lbs, I've decided it's time to get healthy. My BP is high and I'm on meds for that and anxiety/depression. I want OFF! This sedentary lifestyle and trips through the fast-food lane (otherwise known as "Mom's kitchen") has ended!!

My sister lost over 40lbs 5years ago on Atkins/low carb WOE and has kept it off. She is my inspiration and I can't wait to surprise her when I make the change for the better!!! My husband is a Type-I Insulin Dependent Diabetic and I hope that changing my WOE will rub off on him too!

I made it!
I spent the last week in New Orleans and was afraid of how I woud do. I was in hotels without refrigerators and all eating was at restaurants. I found breakfast to be the hardest part and definitely had a few "blown" days (can you say beignets???) I walked everywhere and tracked between 7-9 miles per day. When all was said and done, I lost 1 pound the whole week. I was pretty sure that I'd blow all my success to date, so imagine the happy dance when I saw I was 1 lb down!! Yahoo!! I MADE IT!!

Now it's time to kick back into high gear!! Thanks for all the tips before I left!

Getting ready to travel - any advice?
I'm getting ready to leave on a week-long conference in New Orleans. I've done really well to date, including at restaurants, but looking for any advice you might have for eating while traveling.Very Happy

I think that's a fabulous idea!! And I love the mini-goals tracker idea too! Some of us just love to see the charts!! I'm very motivated by things like that, so when the scale isn't going down, it's nice to see measurements/inches go down!
