I'm a 20 year old white female and weigh about 240lbs. I have always been overweight but fairly muscular. This is by far the heaviest i've ever been. I'm a recovering heroin addict. In june of 2010 I checked into detox weighing 190lbs size 12. In about 6 months I was very inactive and gained about 50lbs. At the beginning of this month i joined the gym and try to go about 5-6 times a week as well as eating healthier, i walk a fine line between eating healthier and not eating enough. If i dont have healthy foods on hand i consume less caloric intake of s##tty food. I work out 5-6 days a week, 45 minute 5k and 45 minutes of circut training. My reccomended RDI is 2700calories but my intake is closer to 2000. My goal is to lose a total of 75 pounds and hopefully 50 of that by june of 2011.

shin splints
i do have access to the gym.

i think it may have been my shoes for awhile i was running in sambas (adidas, my old indoor soccer shoes) and theyre not very supportive so i bought a pair of nike running shoes, i took sunday off from running only did a 12minute mile on tuesday and took yesterday off as well, theyre feeling better and this morning at yoga i picked up a stretch band to strengthen the muscle its just a pain cause i really enjoy running but i dont wanna injure myself

i just recently started really trying to loose weight. i used to be very active but havent been for about a year. i started working out again maybe two weeks ago i do 5k everyday and am slowly getting small shin splints, my sisters are both runners and from what ive researched the only way for them to go away is to not run through it ice em, and let em rest. I really need cardio as a daily thing so i was looking for some suggestions on what else i could do.
