Hi y'all! I'm a 50 something married mother of four and grandmother of three. After leaving the "working world" two years ago, I have gradually gained back the 50 lbs. that I lost in 2002. I also quit smoking several months ago, which I'm sure contributed to some of the weight gain. It's time to do something about this before it gets any further out of control.

Best low carb cookbook?
Any recommendations/reviews of the best low carb cookbook? I've found a bunch by Atkins, and then some others that are just billed as "low carb". I'd greatly appreciate any input so I don't end up ordering 10 cookbooks! Confused

Celebrating with Kat!!!! No more diabetes meds!!!!
Wow! What an inspiring story, Kat! I didn't check your profile before writing this, so do you mind if I ask how long it took you to lose the weight? I don't have as much to lose, but my goal is to get back into my size 10's as well! I will be doing a happy dance, too, when that day comes! Smile I'm still in the beginning phase of Atkins, so I can only go by what I read in the book, and the testimonies of those who have been successful. And your story has definitely motivated me to hang in there! Thanks!

Net Carbs
Hmmmm. Then I have a dilemma. I already feel stuffed at the end of the day. I guess I'll have find some way to add in a few more carbs. What do you do with the pumpkin? The only thing I've ever used it for is pies. Does it end up like a pudding? And do you buy it canned? Also, I've never seen a lot of Rhubarb here in Virginia. I remember my grandmother making strawberry-rhubarb pies, but I've never tried it. Thanks for the advice. I'll look through some of the snacks that are listed as okay for induction and see what I can come up with. Smile

Net Carbs
Well, based on my calorie count, I can't imagine going into starvation mode. Most days I do end up right around where I should be, but occasionally I feel like I've eaten quite a bit and the carbs are on the low side. Maybe I'm worrying too much about "doing this right", but of course I want to maximize all weight loss opportunities! Smile
