I am a 49 year old type 2 diabetic, 15 yrs diagnosed. Grandmother and Mother afflicted. On Xmas day 2011 I weighed 201 lbs. I read Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution and Wheat Belly. I started to abstain from dietary sugar and grains. No beans, rice, pasta, potato, tomatoes, carrots, or grains. I eat low carb with most calories from protein and fats. Lean meats and I add olive oil and other healthy fats. Limit myself to 10 - 12 grams of carb per meal. I need to stop losing weight so I now eat 4 meals at 500 - 600 calories per day.
