Hi, I'm Suzy... I'm 29, married mom of 4. I have been using fatsecret for the past couple of years. In 2011, I lost a total of 50 lbs! I was very proud of myself. Then, I got pregnant with my daughter and put back on a bit of weight. I'm back at my pre-pregnancy weight now and I hope this time I will reach my target weight of 145 lbs.

I'm not following any special diet, I'm counting my calories, I've switched to almost ALL whole grains, and am making sure to get all my servings of fruit & veggies every day. I power walk every day for 40 minutes, and jog around the track when at my sons' soccer practices twice a week. I do strength training in the morning before work.

No gym membership, no crazy diet plans. Surprisingly when I had the gym membership & the Weight Watchers membership I couldn't lose the weight. Now that I'm doing it on my own with the help of FatSecret and my FitBit Zip, I am reaching my goals. Which confirms what I've always thought: it's all up to you.

This is what did it for me too. This website is amazing & the Android app is a lifesaver!

I agree Roblaw, the very act of recording what I eat here on fatsecret makes me be successful. It makes me think twice about eating one of those doughnuts that my co-worker brought in. It makes me think "I should eat a hard boiled egg and some grilled veggies for lunch today since I had a carb heavy day yesterday". It makes me think "do I really want that high calorie margarita or should I get the lower calorie choice of diet coke and rum?" It makes me think about my choices and allows me the power to make better decisions with my food.

And the act of tracking my activity makes me want to be less lazy. It makes me realize when I have sat at my desk for too long without taking a break for a walk. Or when I have turned into a lump on the couch and I should do some housework or go outside and enjoy the day. And once you get into a habit of tracking, tracking, tracking, it really becomes very easy (and quick) to do.

I've lost most of my weight, well on my way to my goal, and I haven't stopped eating carbs or drinking milk. It's all about moderation. I try to switch out simple carbs for refined carbs as much as possible though.

As for pancakes... homemade recipe w/ whole wheat flour & my kids love them!!

(Beware: this is not a diet-friendly food... it's still a treat, there is plenty of sugar in these. However, I feel better about feeding my kids these than a box of Aunt Jemima's). It's also better for you. So if you are going to indulge, try these.

I've had those... the ladies at work have brought them in, they're delicious! I might have to pick some up now, although my kids will probably eat it all.

I'm new here, have ballooned up to 215 lbs and am sick and tired of how I look and feel!

It's so hard to do anything in the evenings other than play and spend time with the kids and animals after getting dinner ready and picking up the house. However, we just put a pool in, so I'm hoping that I'll get some swimming in nightly as part of my daily exercise.

Maybe play a Wii game with the kids? My kids like to battle me at Just Dance or Wii Sports. You really get a good workout with some of those games.
