I am 43 years old. Married to my DH for 15 years. I have one son(22) who is married and just gave me a precious grandson a year and a half ago. I love my family and am determined to be around for them. I have struggled my whole life with my weight and have so far not been successful in shedding it, but I am not giving up. I will continue to keep trying until I beat this! I am a follower of Jesus Christ. God is the most important thing in my life! I am an avid reader and like to write. I enjoy painting and doing crafts. I am hoping to be an encouragement to others on FS and to be encouraged :)

Counting Carbs or Calories? What works for you?
I've tried the low carb (Atkins) approach but it was so restrictive that I couldn't live with it for long. I count calories but also keep a reign on my carbs because I am diabetic. I try and keep my net carbs between 30 and 45 per meal and between 15 and 30 for a snack. But counting calories is easier for me to live with long term and that is what this is about...a lifetime change. Smile

Work Potluck
I don't know if this will help but we just had a pot luck at my church and I faced the same problem. I made a dish to share and then brought a subway sandwich and a bag of baked chips for my lunch and then I let myself pick out one small dessert. It definitely saved me! I was able to have fun fellowshipping and stay on track.
