What has dieting taught you about losing weight and keeping it off?
I think what I've learned from dieting is the importance of water and the effect that eating right can have on you. water is wonderful for you, it flushes out your system, helps keep you full and looking vibrant. When you eat the right foods, no matter what version of a diet you're on, then you feel better. When you have success on a diet you feel better. The food log is probably whats helped me the most. Things really do add up and when you start realizing how much just a little exercise helps, and those three extra bites of food hurt... you make changes

Calorie Free Salad Dressing
Exactly! I tried the ZeroCarb Julian bread the other day.... its not awesome... but it certainly helps if you're looking for something at all similar to bread and you're doing atkins. If you think of ti as a bread substitute, you'll hate it, but if you appreciate it for what it is- which is a starchy-feeling no carb impact food, then you'll enjoy it more

Atkins Bars and Shakes on Induction
HI carol- yeah it sounds like many people agree with you and do the shakes just fine but avoid the bars. I'm kinda heading that way myself. I seem to be able to control myself on the atkins shakes, but the atkins bars make me crave more atkins bars.
Sam- yeah the atkins products I've been eating are listed all phases... which is confusing because the atkins website both says you CAN eat endulge bars on induction and that you CAN'T eat atkins endulge bars on induction. I've been doing a lot fo research and it looks like the aprticular almond milk I'm driking (unsweetened silk almond milk) ends up being zero net carbs because ot has 1g of fiber and 1g of carbs per cup (I count net carbs, not total carbs). The atkins website lists almond milk as being ok in induction.
Truvia and any granulated sweetener seem to all be lsited as one nc per packet due to what is used to make them granulated, but the syrups don't seem to have that issue, so I've been avoiding Truvia and using DaVinci sugar free french vanilla syrup in my coffee instead. I did see that you're not to consume moer than three of the artificial sweetener packets... but I wonder if that limit of 3 extends to stuff like reduced sugar ketchup (contains aspartame), walden farms dressing (contains splenda), and the number of other reduced or no sugar products that contain splenda for sweetening instead.
Its a learning experience, that's for sure! Thanks for your help!

Ketosis and Ketone Strips on Atkins
Hi Sam, 20 nc daily is important, but then so it the ratio of protein, fat, and carbs in your diet, as well as how many of your nc are coming from veggies. Without seeing your diet calendar, I can't really asy if you aren't eating the rigth things, but it is also possible that your body wasn't showing ketosis or not yet, or that the ketone strips just weren't correct. I've seen in several places that they are more of a guideline than an actual "for sure" way of knowing if you are in ketosis or not. Some people say the way they tell they are in ketosis is whether or not they are hungry (i.e. lack of hunger= burning fat for energy= ketosis)

OK so I know it took me a while, but I just did the math and figured out that if I have a net calorie deficit of 1000 a day I will lose 2 lbs a week.... ...
