Goal Weight:130.0 lb
following: sgreene0206's own diet
performance: losing 0.5 lb a week

Hi! My name is Stephanie, I am 28 years old and have been battling weight my entire life. I am from a rather large family, by large I don't mean many family members, just that most are overweight or obese. My highest weight was 199lbs at the age of 22. That year I lost 50lbs and have kept it off since. The last few years my weight has fluctuated between 145lbs-155lbs. I am good at maintaining but my knee's and sciatic nerve/hip issue tells me I need to lose some more. I really don't have a solid goal weight, but I have a feeling it is somewhere near 130lbs. My biggest goal is reduce the pain I experience.

I am taking my time to get it off with diet and exercise.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
I weigh daily as well! I find it helps me catch myself if I start to slip. It is much easier to lose 5lbs than 10 lbs Smile

Travel/Moving & Healthy Eating
Thanks k8yk! Planning is the key! I have tried hard to avoid living in a hotel for such an extended period of time but its gonna happen this time. My boyfriend is active duty Army, so we have a time line to maintain and closing on our next home is taking longer than usual (the bank is backed up, its prime moving season for the military Smile. Anyways, thankfully we will have access to the gym on post as soon as we get there and already plan to work out in the mornings. Also I am sure we will take our dogs to the park or the beach most afternoons. Getting in a routine while living out of a hotel is the hardest part about moving!

p.s.
Awesome job not gaining any weight while moving! That is all I am aiming for! Smile

Travel/Moving & Healthy Eating
We are moving in 2 weeks (YIKES!) from Kansas to Georgia. Unfortunately, we will be living in a hotel for a little over a week, until we can close on our house. I am trying to plan how to continue to eat healthy meals so we do not break down and fast food it every day. The hotel we are staying at has your typical microwave/mini fridge combo. We tried to find a nice extended stay place with a kitchenette but with 2 dogs and a cat, there is not much out there that allows them that I am willing to live in for so long. Breakfast will be the easiest because we have stayed at this hotel before and they have fresh (NOT CANNED, woohoo) cut up fruit, whole fruits, whole grain cereals, oat meal, along with all the other normal items eggs, bacon, sausage. Lunch we will probably grab at a local restaurant because I imagine we will be busy during the day exploring the area and getting things lined up for the house we are purchasing. A couple of days we may pack wraps made with lunch meats and cheeses, it just depends on how busy we are. I plan to keep a cooler with us during the day with snacks such as greek yogurt, light cheese sticks, laughing cow cheese (my fav), veggies, fruit, & protein bars (not all of these every day of course).
Dinner is where I feel stuck but have started thinking out of the box. My plan is to have our camping gas grill handy to grill meat/veggies a couple nights. In addition I was thinking about using our crock pot in the room. Has anyone ever done this? Was it a good experience? I plan to buy meat/ fresh veggies as we use them. We can also use the micro wave to steam veggies. I could eat a lean cuisine/ healthy choice meal with a salad every night but that wouldn't work for my sweet boyfriend Smile Any idea's/advice etc that would make this easier would be greatly appreciated! Thanks y'all Smile

Seeking OTC equivalent to Phendimetrazine / Phentermine
Phentermine and Phendimetrazine are not amphetamines however, they are chemically similar and as a result cause similar side effects. They are usually only prescribed to individuals who are considered morbidly obese and meant for short term use when the benefits out weigh the risk.

There is an ingredient in some supplements, DMAA,I believe it is found in OxyElite Pro, that supposedly is similar but not as strong. However, it has been linked to the death of a few Army soldiers, is banned from use by any military personnel and is under investigation by the Department of Defense. In short, its not a very safe substance IMO.

I will say I have taken phentermine before and it is NOT worth it. That stuff made me crazy. Just like you the little bit of weight I lost taking it, I gained back and then some. IMO stuff like this (including DMAA) are not worth it. There really is not a quick fix. I have to agree with Erika2633, making smart food choices and exercise is the only way. It took me a long time to realize this but once I did it made loosing weight and keeping it off so much easier.

Cheat Days
Diablo360x wrote:

To the person talking about your metabolism slowing down, please stop. This only happens(enough to be a problem anyway) if you're in a SEVERE deficit for a long period of time. I am talking 3000 calorie deficits here or if your bodyfat is severely low. I lost 30lbs. in 80 days with a large deficit(1400 calorie average) and I lost the exact amount of weight fat secret showed. I divided my total deficit by 3500 and it was exactly 30 lbs. If your metabolism slows down I would have lost less weight.

It takes a lot for your metabolism to slow down enough for it to be a factor. That is simply another excuse for people to gorge themselves.

ahhhh YES! Thank you Diablo. I often want to say exactly what you said. A few years ago I lost 50 lbs within about 3 months. I did it with cardio/strength training and diet. I had large daily deficits of 1500-2000 calories a day (exercise was the key here). I would eat between 1200-1500 calories a day, every day and never experienced any problems. My hair didn't fall out, my skin didn't dry out, and I didn’t have any adverse affects. I had my body fat measured when I started and after I lost the weight and guess what I only lost fat and I built muscle! Of course my diet was full of healthy foods, lots of veggies (they are so low in calories!) and lean meats with occasional healthy carbs. I think when people try to reach really high deficits with diet alone is when the problem starts to occur. I may be wrong, but it worked for me and I have kept the weight off since 2006!!

Now if I can only be as strict as I was before and loose these last few vanity pounds!

P.S.

I try not to do cheat days. Instead I spend my time trying to make some of my favorite cheat foods into a healthier version. Yesterday I made cheese sticks out of light string cheese sticks! They where lovely!
