I tend to be very active (ran 2 marathons last year) but also love to eat and drink, resulting in me gaining 30 pounds since graduating college 16 years ago.
It turns out my most effective weight loss/management plan is to simply count (all) calories consumed and use the simple rule of:
Calories burned > Calories consumed = Weight Loss
I pretty much eat what I want until I hit the daily limit then stop. With this approach, you need to get used to ignoring a dull hunger pang but resistance comes pretty quickly.
