Too tired to cook + McDonald's = Savvy Calorie Intake!
I think you are fine to eat a McDonalds occasionally because if you completely ban foods you end up craving them. SO the one off is fine. Well done for customizing it though.

Hi, i'am new here
Diabetes is very specialist. If I was you I would consult your doctor, physician or a personal trainer. Actually there are forums dedicated to diabetes...might wanna check there.
Alternatively, re-name the title of your thread to something similar to.... "Help Needed: Recommended Diets For Diabetes: Please Help?"
That should get more attention.

Diet Soda
The whole "diet" in diet soda is just a scam. There is no such thing as a soda that is good for you. It is all just marketing hype.
Drink more water. If you need a sugar release after a work out I suggest eat some fruit, like a banana and an apple. Or a wholegrain bar.
The more natural you can be the better. Otherwise your sugar levels will be up and down like a yo-yo.
Eating wholegrain and fruit will give you a natural release of sugar once turned into glucose.
Energy drinks like red bull will again boost you for an hour and then leave you feeling drained afterwards. Avoid them. Drink more water - 8 glasses per day (half glasses) spread evenly throughout the day. If you exercise and lose water then suggest you drink an extra couple of glasses. However, too much can kill you so be warned. Consult your doctor, physician or gym personal trainer to help/guide you.
Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor....just giving advice from my own experience.

Yawning during workout
Are you dehydrated? How much water are you drinking?
When you wake up make sure you drink at least one pint of water. Then throughout the day ensure you are drinking 8 half glasses. Spread it out so you are not going to the toilet every 5 minutes.
Dehydration is a big cause to tiredness.
Also, make sure you are eating smaller meals that are easier to digest. Eat large meals are harder and take more energy to digest and leave you feeling tired. Notice how much more energy you have after eating a tuna (nicoise) salad as apposed to a steak and chips.
Whats more is that try to keep to a diet that keeps your sugar levels on a flat line rather than up, down, up, down, up, down.
Eat fruits because these will give you a natural sugar release. The body has to turn the fruits into glucose and likely more of a natural released, than just eating processed sugar like a Mars bar.
Coffee is not the vest thing because it wakes you up for a short period but once the caffeine wears off, you will be tired again.
When you exercise make sure you do shorter sessions but more frequently. So there is no point going for a 2 hour session when you are first starting out because you will be exhausted. Just do a 10-20 run 3-5 times per week.
So to summarize here.....just break everything down into smaller chunks and do it all more often.

during what time are you the hungriest??
I am probably hungriest lunch time because I tend to have a light breakfast. I am less hungry though since I started eating smaller portions but more often (5 small meals) because this has allowed my stomach to shrink down to a normal size. At first it was tricky, but once the stomach shrinks I was fine. I also drink loads of water as this is a natural appetite suppressant.
