Was diagnosed with Type 2 three weeks ago. Doctor put me on Toujeo, less than 50 carbs a day, and wanted me to lose 100 lbs. Sugar was at 345!
Had no clue, but parents have diabetes so......
My mom had an episode, went to ER and was at 485!!!! I vowed no longer and changed our WHOLE outlook! Out with all the bad stuff in the pantry!
I am a DBA with the National Guard, 31 years. Gained SOME weight over the years...but with this new issue.....I want to get back to my "ARMY" weight of 202. So....it begins.....

Update 1: 06 Feb 2017 - Down to 249 lbs! Blood Glucose around 90 daily! Dr. Griffin has pulled HBP meds, cholesterol meds, and MOST important CUT TOUJEO insulin pen! No more poking myself 3 times a day!!!!(Well, I am still going to check blood sugar for a while-maintain)
Shout-outs to ALL my FS Buddies! Thx for helping, prodding, suffering, sharing, laughing, crying, dancing with me on this journey!
I'm still working on getting to 202lbs(47 away, not 150 anymore), so watch my smoke! (No, the cookies are fine Mom!) Hooahh!

Keto eating
Yep! I went KETO around summer 2016 and am down 96lbs and off daily insulin injections! My 1 yr checkup is 1 Feb 2017(I was told 2-5 years to live 1yr 6 days ago). My sugar went from 345 to 95 in a year! KETO ON BABY!

For those of you on Low-Carb diets

just wow.... @lo-carbKaren, If something works for you, and your Dr isn't making you stop....don't stop.
My Dr is the one to point me this way, and he continuously monitors my progress, and 50g carbs or less a day is working for me. I have cut all BP meds, statins, insulin in less than 11 months. I only listen to him and my body. This character has ALL his stats hidden, nothing for noobs to observe and strive for. My drum beat says "March on!"
