Hi mkd66,
Dont give up. I am 62 and 2 years ago I decided to get back into shape. I looked at several diets and realized that I am not disciplined enough to make these work so tried my own. I lost 65 pounds and so far kept kept it off. What I did was cut out Bread, pasta Rice and potatoes. Of course no cakes, candies or cookies. Ate as much salad, Fruit and vegetables that I wanted to and protein was eggs, chicken, turkey most days, red meat once or twice a week. It is also important to move more. Do what you can as regards exercise and try to do a little more each week. I still have a plate of high fiber cereal every morning.
Right now I treat myself a bit on weekends but try to be strict Monday to Friday.

Hi,
This is my first ever response. Hang in, I did it on my own. I cut out hot carbs, Potatoes, bread, rice and pasta. Increased salads, vegetables and fruit. I did not weigh or monitor quantities. NO candies, cakes, sugar pop etc, keep sugar down to a minimum. Dropped about 55 pounds in 1 year. Good luck

What I did
Hi folks,
I wanted to give you my diet that allowed me to lose 55 pounds in a year. When I started, I was very strict however now I monitor my weight and when I go up a bit, I get more strict.
I did not cut out carbs entirely as I have a bowl of hi fiber low carb cereal (All bran flakes mixed with multi grain Cheerios) I did however cut out hot carbs like potatoes, rice and pasta. I also cut out candies, cookies and cakes. Increased salads, fruits and vegetables. Dropped 55 pounds and have held it off for about 18 months. I will not let my weight go over 170 pounds and get strict when I get close.
