I'm a Data Management professional with a Master's Degree in Economics. After working for over 15 years in financial services and being unemployed since 2009, I decided that I wanted to do something with my life that was more meaningful and that I was passionate about. To that end, I'm now a Certified Health Coach. I also am familiar with weight loss struggles and the confusion that surrounds "dieting" from my own personal experience. I have loss over 40 lbs and kept it off for over 25 years which I attribute to a balanced approach to wellness and health. My hope is to contribute, if even in a small way, to counseling people so that they can be empowered to reach their health goals.

Cheese or Chocolate?
I'm a HUGE fan of dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa content). Its a great source of magnesium and magnesium supports heart health. Also studies have shown that cocoa powder has almost twice the antioxidants
of red wine and 3 times that of green tea.
Not fan of dairy-especially for women so to me, eating cheese eveyday is not a great idea.

Let's talk FAT
I'm with K8 on this. I wouldn't put a whole lot of faith in the USDA recommendation. The USDA is supposed to look out for the success of the food manufacturers and protect the consumer;guess whose interests are going to win out? Bottom line is you should eat what makes sense for you at this point in your life- In the 1970's it was red meat is bad,in the 80's and 90's don't eat fat,1990s- carbs are bad. Enough! Our bodies know what is right-experiment and figure out what works for you. We get too heady with all this when all we need is to listen to what are bodies are telling us.

Motivation Needed
Maybe you should work should start with figuring out what the root is that is stressing you to eat unhealthy food. No sense of adding the stress of changing you;re eating habits onto of an already stressful life- this will inevitably lead to eating disasters.

Health and Wellness
I try to follow Michael Pollan's Advice- Eat real food. Not too much. Mostly plants. SO SIMPLE !!!!
Also, I'm a big advocate of aligning other aspects of your life- relationships, exercise, spirituality, etc. in order to reach your health goals.
