Hello! I am 24 years old and will be studying to be a nutritionist in the next couple of years. I have always struggled with self-image in the past and am now at the point where I feel great about myself. I have an amazing husband and awesome family who's support and encouragement are overwhelming.

My reasons for joining fatsecret are because of some digestive health problems I accrued during high-school due to an eating disorder- I want to keep track of what I eat and what foods make me feel sick. Also, my goal is to gain 5 pounds of muscle so keeping track of macronutrients is essential.

I'd like to wish everyone luck and motivation to keep on pushing to your goals! :)

Why Women Should Train with Weights!
Oh, but then you'd need this too:

DUH! But still, could be a good investment.

Well it makes a bit more sense to know that you are in another country! I don't think I've ever been to a gym like that here in the states; and I've been to quite a few gyms! Maybe you can invest in one of these and some dumbbells for your home:

It's less expensive than I thought

That's the thing. The barbell's are on very low rack, about knee-height. Hence i can't lift the 100lb barbell on my own and the instructors do not provide any assistance. Which is why i am now using the smith.

Wait...there's no rack where you can lift the barbell to a higher position?? You need a new gym! There should be something you can adjust to make the bar sit higher on the rack. That way you can lift the 45 lb barbell and THEN rack the weights.

The Smith Machine is a poor substitute for the barbell.

I agree as well. I only used it in the beginning but now I always use the barbell.

I heard someone say that body pump is more about muscle endurance than muscle building because with the number of reps you have to do, you will not be able to lift enough to put your muscles under sufficient stress to build.

Anybody know if this is true?

I'd imagine that is the case. Muscles have to be challenged with higher and higher weight in order to grow. You'll get a little bit bigger but nothing compared to what you could get with free weights.
