New to group - Question for phase II

Hey Randy...I hear you...but would it be safe to say that you were highly motivated at this time...motivated enough to shell out $500 AND go to a Dr. to make sure that this new diet program would work safely....motivated enough to make sure that you followed the recommended VLCD so that you didn't waste your $$.

Just for the record, I too have lost weight and gained weight a few times in my life...doesn't make me a dumb ass either. I'm 56 and so far have a better understanding and self awareness of what I need to do to maintain a long term healthy weight...my hope and prayer is that this is enough to keep me on track going forward through the decades I hope I have left to live...my biggest comfort is that I do not feel like I am on a diet AND I now have tools and support to correct the inevitable life situations that can attempt to derail us all on our journey.

Good luck Randy on your future weight (fat loss) journey, You have found a great place here at FS, although maybe you are wondering about that since our recent responses to your post. If you want a buddy, feel free to add me...I can relate to your situation as much as anyone here, take care mate!!

Thanks Steve I appreciate it. Every one has a different story. I did the 4 hour body several years ago and removed bread and soft drinks from my daily intake almost completely. I had gained the weight back by basically being lazy, and switching to a desk job (OUCH!). I just wanted a good jump start...yes I was highly motivated.

I just know this: I was not hungry for 30 days on the HCG and 500 calories per day. After being off the HCG my appetite has come back. I am following advise gleaned from this site and eating a little something every 2 hours or so. Just a few saltines and still drinking 100 ounces of water a day. My thirst and/or desire for alcohol in my system is gone.....funny thing huh?

I don't discount anybody their right to an opinion, I just don't like being presented as an idiot. It is what it is, we are all struggling through this life. If I can help by relating my personal experience then I am glad to do it.

Like I said, I have lost large sums of weight 4 times in my life, the most was 35lbs. Every time I have dieted I have been motivated, and ever single time I have succeeded. I do not call regaining the weight over a 10 year period a failure.....5 years, yeah, that was laziness on my part. Thanks for the kind words.

New to group - Question for phase II
I don't think HCG enhances weight loss, but it did curb (remove) my appetite. I would also doubt its ability to make my body burn "stored fat" any differently....500 calories a day is 500 (period). However I do not feel I lost muscle mass over the last 30 days which I was advised I would not. I did the 500 calories without any real side effect other than I felt weakness in my legs going up steps (gone now). Any talk of a placebo effect is pure conjecture.....that I successfully did a 30 day program on HCG without hunger is a fact....how is this so? Was I tricked? Was I hypnotized?

One can author a study wherein those not taking HCG can lose as much weight as those who are actually taking it. But they do not mention how this "placebo" group actually felt for the 30 days.....that is a huge issue in my opinion.

I would never do the 500 calorie diet longer than 30 days. I am very active and can not sustain my schedule on 500 calories...but I can do it for 30 days. The mental boost was phenomenal. I am now on a great schedule and starting the "Couch Potato to 5K program".

As for the long term health implications, I guess I am in the same boat as anybody who did 30 days worth of HCG, or any woman who ever had a child.

Maybe I would have been better off staying 35lbs overweight....heck we all know that causes NO health issues....right?

We don't always have to be so politically correct and preface all our comments with "if it works for you fine". Especially if this is not his first rodeo. Cause contrarily, all his actions sound like he is new to this dieting thing, one, and two, desperate to try anything to lose the weight.

All statements of ignorance and hate. There is no desperation here....none at all. Mine is a quality of life issue. I have spent the last 27 years of my life building companies and raising kids. It is now my turn to take care of myself. Your assumption that everybody is a dumbazz is merely telling of you as a person. I have read reams of information on the PERILS! of HCG......but I have also read hundreds upon hundreds of success stories from those dumb enough to fall for this voodoo shell game.

Secondly you ask "why post?"...I posted a question and received one answer I think, but I was asked questions about MY PERSONAL experience with HCG. I answered that person in an honest fashion. I did the HCG plan for 30 days on 500 calories per day. The HCG is not the end all of the program it is merely the first 30 day kick start. After the 30 days you go into a much higher calorie count to help stabilize your weight. All I ever said was, it worked for me.

So I will ask the same question of you: Have you ever done the HCG plan? If not, then why are you posting here?

I would assume by the replies you received, you have a history of trollish behavior. As for me, I am merely here to answer any questions from those who have likewise done the HCG plan.

I am not a doctor, did not sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I am merely a regular Joe who came here to ask a question.

If you think it works for you that's fine - it's not about denouncing anything but bringing wider understanding to what we do and there being no scientific evidence behind the efficacy of fertility hormone injections for weight loss - but I can totally understand why now, at this stage, that simply wouldn't matter to you - it worked for you and you're at a point where you have lost weight.

What I would be looking at, if I were you is the yo-yo cycle and the fact that this is your 4th time - I'd be asking myself what's going to make the difference to me for long term maintenance? What habits have I formed? How is my life different now that I am a lower weight than before and How am I not going to be at the point where I need to take extreme dieting measures again?

That would be where I'd want to be - and I speak from the experience of 30 years yo-yoing before finding a path to maintenance for me .. there is a huge psychological and physical difference between yo-yo dieting and establishing maintenance

I posted a simple question regarding Phase II of the HCG diet. My answers have only been about my personal experience and were in response to actual questions asked by an individual on this site.

I take issue to being told I was tricked by some voodoo BS when I know for a fact I was on a 500 calorie a day diet for 30 days without hunger. Of course anybody taking in 500 calories a day is going to lose weight......but I dare anybody to actually do it.

I take issue because I do not endorse nor condemn these programs...other than to say I did it for 30 days (short term) lost 25lbs and felt really good doing it.

Secondly, by age 52 most of us know why we gain weight. To say I have lost weight 4 times in my life should not be considered bizzare in any manner. At age 27 I found myself getting a bit paunchy so I did a diet which consisted of Slim Fast and new potatoes, lost 10% of my body weight. Then again in my late 30's had finally (after 10 years) gained most of it back, did the Adkins and lost the weight. Finally at age 47 I did the 4 Hour Body (my favorite) and lost 35lbs. Most of us know why we gain weight, Big Mac's, Mexican Food, Beer...lot's of it, Bourbon and uncontrolled portion size. I don't need anybody explaining this to me. I appreciate it, it is all welcomed, but don't insinuate I am a dumb ass, please. I asked a question and someone tried to commandeer the thread....It happens.

I checked with my Physician before I did the real HCG diet. Although he also doubted the efficiency he saw no real issues with a 30 day plan.

So to those who want to know, I am with the thousands upon thousands who have fallen for this voodoo which has been around since the early 50's.

New to group - Question for phase II
Well I ain't a kid, and this ain't my first rodeo. I have lost weight of serious proportions at least 4 times in my 52 years on this earth. 4 years ago I did the "4 hour body" diet and it worked wonders for me. As I let my self get behind the 8 ball I needed something to kick start my weight loss this time around. Now you and others have questioned this placebo effect which is mind boggling to me. I have gone from 500 calories a day to 2000 and without the HCG I am struggling with hunger. With the HCG on 500 calories a day I was cruising to victory without a thought of hunger. The "placebo" argument hold absolutely no water with me....been there and done that. That is a passive aggressive way of saying I am too dumb to know I have been tricked into thinking I wasn't hungry with some voodoo BS. So yeah, different people will have different outcomes, I can only impart that knowledge which I gained from doing the program...good or bad.

You wont scare me off, but it does seem as though you are here to denounce more than to learn and educate others.

Be careful what you inject into your body? Thanks for the heads up, but I am fine.
