I did low-carb before with Atkins in 2005/2006. I lived by Splenda, soy products, steak, and fruits and veggies. I was also a "chronic cardio" candidate, doing 60-90 minutes of elliptical cardio 5-6 days weekly in addition to a light free weight routine. At this point I was in the best shape of my adult life - 5'6", 159 lbs. or so, size 4/6 tops and size 8 pants. Then I became pregnant with my first child.
My doctor recommended against me having so much soy in my diet (I had been using soy milk and soy flour to replace my carbier addictions), so I was back on the carbs, and they were back on me! Two babies, infinite insulin spikes, and four years later, I have given up grains and sugar in a bid to regain my health - only this time without soy frankenfoods! Besides the goal of improved health and energy, I'd be mighty proud to make it back into those size 8 pants again as well.
