50 year old Mom of 6 going back to school to retrain for a new career in computer security. Crazy busy and kept on the run by the last 2 kids, 5 and 6 years old.
Two back to back difficult pregnancies in my 40's and a couple sports injuries made me pack on a huge amount of weight over 4 years. Even though I am very active I am having a hard time losing and came here for some support and accountability.
I love yoga and running and want to do a half marathon this year.

Food list
I make a lot of stuff from scratch because of food allergies in my house so what I do is add it too my cookbook and then you can pick it from there. You have to figure out equivalents sometimes because things are listed in serving sizes but you can usually figure it out. If I cant, I add it to the database in an amount I usually use, 1/4 cup whatever instead of 1 serving etc.
When I am really lazy I just pick something that is an equivalent in nutrition and calories, especially vegan alternatives because they are rarely in the database.

I make a simple salve with tea tree oil and lavender oil for a first aid ointment. Its just coconut oil and beeswax with essential oils. You can find hundreds of recipes on pinterest. I also use sweet almond oil with essential oils for a light massage oil for aches and pains with a variety for the oils depending on whats in my cupboard( my son likes sweet orange and clove). You can make it up as you need it. I am working on a medicinal herb garden this year to try a few more things.

I found an awesome lavender body butter recipe but face cream still eludes me. The body butter is 1/4 cup each of shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and sweet almond oil. I added 20 drops of lavender but you could use any essential oil to your preference. Melt everything together in a glass bowl, let cool to room temperature, them whip with a hand blender. Worked awesome on my tired dry legs and feet.

I can't seem to settle on a natural alternative for shampoo though. I do love using Apple cider vinegar to make my hair soft and shiny but the shampoos don't work very well, I need to wash again every other day. I used to only wash every third day. Anyone tried the dry natural shampoos?

Natural healthy and beauty recipes/tips
It was fun to play with to start but I think I will only need to replace 3 or so things( arrowroot powder, beetroot powder, and rosehip powder). I only use a wee bit of neutral eye-shadow color and no mascara so don't really need all the other stuff. Mostly I just use powder makeup, blush, and lip gloss. I already had good brushes. That would have been my only complaint, the ones with the kit were cheap ones.
I use coconut oil for everything too. Vitacost has sales on the big 54 oz jar every now and again, like buy one get one half off, and I stock up. I can't eat it either but I use it for everything else.
My goal is to be rid off all chemical products by the end of the year. We are mostly there but there's still a few things.....Its much less expensive and so much better for you.
