07 December 2019

So I don’t know really where to begin. Firstly, I want to thank those who follow me or show me support even tho all I’m doing is recording and tracking my weight. 11 years ago, I was over 400 pounds and had gastric bypass. I did remarkably well and was able to drop down to 235 pounds. I was walking several 5k races a year, got a personal trainer, and even began training to run the 5k portion of the Pittsburgh Marathon. But in 2014, a chain of events led me to not keeping on track with what I had learned prior to my surgery and gaining 100 of those pounds back. Starting in 2014, after running the 5k I’m the Pittsburgh Marathon, I was hit by a car and found to have a torn meniscus in my left knee, I bounced back from that, only to have my right knee dislocate on me at work and several months of PT. Then in 2016, my husband was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s Disease. My life wasn’t about me anymore, but about being a full time caregiver to my husband, while working a full time job. Sadly, husband’s Parkinson’s rapidly progressed and in December 2018, after several life threatening falls, I made the decision to remove his feeding and breathing tube and let him go the way he wanted. It’s now one year later and I’m still mourning his loss, but I’m working on myself thru the help and support of my bariatric surgeon’s staff and reclaiming my life.
