I'm 29. Dieting and working out is hard without the proper motivation. I feel we all struggle with that, but when you find that motivation, role with it!

Helpful Tip for Recording what you eat!
I hadn't realized it until I saw it.

for those who routinely eat fruit and vegetables, when you record what you eat you have the option of recording the weight of whatever it is you're eating instead of an guestimation.

On your reciept, if you go to a grocery store that is, it'll tell you how much the item weighs. For example, on my CUB (grocery store) reciept it says, "1.21 lb @ 1lb /.98 Peaches Tree Ripen" in other words, I bought 1.21 lbs of Peaches.

In any search website (google yahoo) find Pound to Ounce Calculator.

Enter in the ounces of what you ate into Fat Secret to get the most accurate calories, not to mention other nutritional info.

Need to know how you all stay motivated!!
motivation varies per person. What kinda works for me, is that I have a vacation planned in November. And I want to be able to take off my shirt and not feel embarassed about it. That's my motivation. It's the goal. Keep your eyes on the prize.

So, find a reason that yor dieting and stick to it. There will always be distractions but you can overcome them. Smile

Stay Strong!

Looking for buddies!
I should be the one that'll post a warning on Atkins. I was on it, and I lost a good 60lbs or so. That was great, however, you will plateu and you will gain some of that weight back. Everytime I get back on Atkins, I found I had no energy. Ever. I couldn't run for very long, I couldn't weight train, nothing. Just be warned, that if you don't care to move very much, Atkins might be good for you, but if you work out...Atkins is the worst thing.

Obesity rates still rising in the US
I just looked at that map, The south tends to favour fried food and other foods that tend to have a lot of grease in it. As for income? Can't say for sure. I don't know why Minnesota is singled out as a "thin" state when it's surrounded by the middle weights. Minnesotants eat similarly to people in Wisconsin and Iowa... I say it's a mystery.

Obesity rates still rising in the US
wouldn't that be 80 meals? 20 meals X 4 people? If that's the case, that's a little over a dollar per meal. Healthy or unhealthy, Ramen noodles would be close. Even cans of Tuna might fit the bill, other than that I can't see that happening .
