Last year - around the middle of August - my body shut down, mainly due to stress at my job, but I am sure my weight did not help any. I was a whopping 198 pounds! I am 5'5" - and although I have a large frame - that is still too much weight. I ended up with burscitis in my hip and gout and halux rigidus in my foot. I was a mess. My doctor had finally suggested - for my gout - a special diet that eliminated "processed foods". Wow...60+ pounds later I am at a comfortable 132-135 now. I am trying to get to 125 now, not really sure why - maybe just to prove to myself that I can do this too! Still have issues with my tummy and bottom - extra skin and fat cells.

I have been married for 11 years (this July) and have 2 beautiful girls (10 and 5). I work full-time as a benefits administrator - I have been in accounting for over 15 years and wanted to see what else was out there.

Not enough calories
Thanks for the support! I am doing better now at getting at least 1k calories / day, but my body is in shock right now from it. I gained...alot and am retaining water - my fingers look like sausages! My husband and I have been talking about getting my ring resized because it has become so loose...not today...I cant even get it onSad

But I am sure, once my body readjusts to this, things will level off - again - hopefullyVery Happy

Might Switch to South Beach Diet...
I have hear and read that the SBD is "healthier" that the Adkins and easier to stick with...frankly for me, these do not work.

I went with my doctor's recommendation of getting rid of "processed" foods. Eat lots of fruits and veggies (raw if you can)and eat a little bit of white meat. Oh, don't forget exercise, just walking 30 minutes a day will help tremendously!

I did all of this and lost 60 pounds in less than 2 months - my husband call that weight my "low hanging fruit" - silly boy!

I don't recommend that quick of a weight loss, but it just happened...oh, and don't get frustrated with the "plateaus", that is just your body getting used to the new weight - I would drop a whole lot and then STOP for a week...dorop a whole lot and then STOP again for a week...this went on forever!!! But 60+ pounds came off - and stayed off!!!

Good Luck!
