Sixty-eight year old woman, 5'2". Jazzercise 5 times a week. Take the weekends off. I did the Atkins diet for 9 years, never got all the way to goal, but went from 168 to 134 and maintained for 8 years. It was a struggle. I never experienced the loss of appetite others mentioned. When I started to tweak the diet by adding whole grains and fruit, my weight creeped back up to 161. logging my daily intake into Fitday.com and counting calories slowly helped, but it was a struggle. I got down to 150 and there I stayed.

what's happening in Shangri_La?
Thanks so much for the reply. I'm still combining the Fast_5 method with the
Shagri-La method. With Fast-5, I confine my daily eating within a 5 hour window. For me it's from 3PM to 8 PM. It's easier for me to do this, socially, than any other method. If I want to go to lunch, I just move my 5 hour window. There is some AS from the fast, but the added AS I get from ELOO helps keep my appetite well in control. HOWEVER, my scales have not budged yet. No ups, no downs. I do feel slimmer, probably all in my head.

I'm 68 years old, so your father's information is encouraging to me. Maybe adding some grapefruit is worth a try. Can't hurt.

Thanks, again.

what's happening in Shangri_La?
I'm reading the posts with interest. What I've learned here and by searching the web is this way of eating is a slow process toward changing the body's set point. I'm not sure I understand how that's accomplished. I understand the method, and I guess that's enough to give it a whirl. After all, I watch TV and still don't understand how it works. Rolling Eyes

I'm combining the Fast_5 method (fast 19 hours/eat only within a 5 hour window) and I'm struggling.

Where on this road to Shangri_La is everybody?

Thanks for any input.
