Retired techie turned foodie (healthy home made with quality ingredients - primarily) and live alone in FL retirement community. So sometimes I just enjoy whatever I want to make/eat and sometimes I don't care too much about my waistline (where all my extra goes) cuz my size 14's all fit and I've never been smaller than a size 12, tho I have drawers full of size 12's I've saved. I know my BMI is over 25, but it's not over 30, so I just want to be healthy and feel good - and enjoy life! Hey, I already quit smoking (2yrs ago) and have no other vices... Now if I could look younger - like if loosing 25 pounds would make my wrinkles disappear, I'd have more incentive :-)

Breakfast of Champions
I had dessert last night after dindin of sardines on a salad. Thing is I didn't stop at 1 cookie, had to finish the batch (home made peanut butter cookies with just egg and sugar, really healthy if I could stop at ONE!) Thanks, parents, for making me a foodaholic...

And thanks to you all for replying and making me feel less alone Wink

OMG, that is the same thing my bro and I heard at every dinner when we didn't want to finish eating it all. We've both fought the big belly gene all our lives. I am 62 1/2. Amazing...!

New to the Group
I've also sent you a buddy request. Hope to find a few more retired buddies, maybe local for walking and meetups. Anyone in The Villages, FL? Let me know.

Breakfast of Champions
I skipped breakfast for most of my life, from jr.high until about 2 years ago. Now it is clear that when I don't eat some protein for breakfast, I get a headache that does not go away all day. I learned this from forcing myself to follow the nutritionist guidelines like I do today.

Yes, I was the original YO-YO. I now know that my body/metabolism basically shut down and most all the food I was eating was going to fat. I didn't eat much very often, but my metabolism was almost zero. I was moody and on edge, lived a very stressful life, even after retiring from that high stress computer job.

Why didn't we learn earlier how important good eating habits would be to quality of life? I blame my parents, but they had their own issues. I am glad my daughter is now raising her kids with healthy eating habits. We just didn't know how important it was back then.Embarassed
