I'm 25, and looking to be back down to 150 by the time I turn 26 in May!!! I'm about 190 now... so thats 40lbs in 6 mos... Around 1.7lbs/week. I know its a long shot but I'm going to try my damnedest!!
Last year at this time I started to try and lose weight by simply cutting back calories. It worked really well, I lost about 15lbs and was really happy with myself and stopped recording my caloric intake daily. The weight crept back and I'm exactly where I started last year.
I'm not going to get discouraged, I refuse to. I know how good that weight loss felt, I want that feeling back!!! I'm sick of being a double digit... To be honest I don't much care what I weigh, if I can make it to a size 8 jeans I'd be happy as a clam!
So I'm starting with the same approach I used last year. Maybe once I plateau I'll try something new, but for now I'm just restricting my diet to 1500 cals/day. I'm not counting any other sort of intake (fat, fiber, carbs, etc) for now because I've found its easier to start a diet if you can still eat whatever you want (even if its just a bite to limit the calories). Toughest thing is the weekends... I love me a nice frosty adult beverage! But hey, cutting back on that is good for me in more ways than one (but if you see me go over 1500 cals on Fridays and Saturdays don't be surprised!)
So thats my schpeal... I update my food diary throughout the day using the FatSecret App for Android (AWESOME TOOL BTW!!!!), the exercise diary usually once daily. I'll be weighing in every week or so, just to check my progress!
