My name is Stephanie. I've been "phat" all my life. Right out of high school my senior year I lost weight through exersice & lots of veggies rice and chicken breast. I got down to 165 lbs which was comfortable weight for me...not at the time, but now I pick through my clothes and don't think I gave myself enough credit. I had my daughter in 2003...balooned right before and after. Ended up with horrible symptoms that led to the diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis. I suspected food allergies and used Atkins for the first time as an elimination diet. It worked!!! I singled out gluten...no more UC symptoms...and lost symptoms I didn't know were even symptoms!! Things I thought were just normal for me. Through this I went from 280 ish down to about 230 lbs (I prior to this round bounced between 205 and 230). Since then I have cut out all gluten and most starchy foods. This finding of mine and my health led me to direct my attention on many many problems my daughter was experiencing as a toddler, about the same time frame....let's just say she was sick very often. She was diagnosed with Celiac at age 3, around 2006. Since then my household is gluten free with the exception of my husbands Ezekial Bread and his Busch Light. (I can't take it all away...lol. He is in agreeance though as his health had a dramatic improvement also.) I am now back for another round of Atkins to get back to my straight out of high school weight. It's early on but so far so good!! ;o) Also this time around I am going to try my hardest to make it a way of life by finding my top number of carbs I can consume before gaining weight...after all that's what you are supposed to do with Atkins, right? lol

The Biggest Loser
Ctlss, those shoes are amazing!! I go barefoot alot around the house...we have a sunken 1st floor so my kitchen floor is tile over concrete. I'm sure that made it worse for me. I got myself a pair of the Danskin knock offs from walmart. They were like $25. I think I might be able to run in those things too! You can get a much better pace going in them over regular shoe walking.

Sounds like fascitis, Amanda...not fun at all. Mornings were worse for me too. If you start walking it might get worse before better...hang in there and those muscles should build up.

The Biggest Loser
Also, as k8yk said, go at your own pace. I started with a mile and worked up to 3, some days I feel like doing 1 or 2 again. Now that I've lost some wieght and strenghtened a bit I feel like I can start adding more without exhausting myself...that's what always burn's me out. Soon here I'm going to throw in some toning and abs ;o)

The Biggest Loser
I had plantar fascitis in my right foot...it seemed to always be there. It would not hurt after walking around for a bit but my first couple of steps every day or every time I'd stand up would hurt...I was always limping it seems. Anyway, I started going for long walks a few weeks ago and no pain anymore. Seems that the muscle strength gained was enough to pull things back into place ;o) The pain did get worse bifore better so hang in there ;o)
