Hey Everyone!

I'm a 32 year old man. I have the strangest work schedule so getting in a workout can be challenging. I work four, twelve hour days with a 1 hour drive back one way to my work. I'm trying to prove that you can have a family, work, play, entertain, diet, and train. It's not an impossibility, just a matter of drive.

I've been studying martial arts nearly all of my life and its one of my greatest loves. I enjoy resistance training.... but I just HATE doing cardio, but I do it anyway.

At the end of the day though I look forward to curling up on the couch to a good movie or a book.

P.S. I'm 6'4" tall or 193 cm tall for you that use the metric system.

Interesting thread.

I guess my question on this is: even if your 100% true and these are as far off as you believe, then how would this be fixed?

Sure, we can put the onus on the companies in question, but who gets the final bill? Those that they are buying ingredients from or the company that is processing.

Who verifies this information, department of Ag or FDA? This would be a huge and very expensive undertaking.

I would be willing to bet this would have a huge timeline too. Nobody is gonna jump on this in a few months, it would have to be well over a 2 year deadline.

I guess the real question is, where would spending the money be more appropriate? The bigger issue isn't the absolute accuracy of the chart itself, but the minsunderstanding and utter ignorance of the format itself. I'd rather see a government expenditure on a program to educate populations that don't understand the chart itself and what it means. As well as healthy values for those nutrients.

Can you review my exercise plan and give advice?
Don't overlook the benefits of bodyweight exercises too. Bodyweight squats, pushup variations, crunches etc. There is a reason why all these exercises have solid places in the regimens of even professional athletes.

Easy to do at home and still get a decent sweat going.

HIGH FAT DIETS SHOULD BE BANNED, AS WELL AS SUGAR AND OVEREATING OF STARCH.
While I don't necessarily agree with the argument that ketogenic diets should be seen as a negative thing. The, admittedly secondary, spirit of his post is to find sustainability in a diet.

I couldn't do a ketogenic diet, I simply wouldn't be able to sustain it. I would hate it and eventually not be able to continue. It's all about finding a balance in your current lifestyle. I work on a macro set and I sustain a fairly balanced weight year round. I increase calorie intake in the winter for strength gains, then reduce it in the spring/summer to cut some of the fat down. I do this eating about 220 g protein, 280-320 g carbs, and <60 g fats.

If you agree with nothing else in his post then at least give the line about sustainability some thought.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
I weigh upon waking up everyday to record. I don't ever really get hung up on it though. Just want to see where I'm at and if I need to adjust anything going forward.
