The problem with Atkins is that it allows carbohydrates back in after induction.
We should avoid all grains as much as possible.


A Ketogenic diet is much healthier (and effective) than atkins (and I've done both).

Your protein should be 1 gram (or slightly higher) for each KG of bodyweight. Otherwise, as micki13 stated above, the excess protein causes a blood sugar increase.

So: carbs < 30 ... and protein < 1/KG ... and don't give much thought to fat ... whatever it takes to not be hungry.

7 weeks on Atkins. Is it time to try something else?
I would recommend the LCHF diet. It's more of a lifelong way of eating than a diet.
