Well, I think it's time to kick this party off. 5/30/10 will be my official 1st day of the Atkin's way. I'm in the process of cleansing my kitchen of those crummy carb-laden items, and just filled the fridge with tons of veggies and meats and cheeses. After peaking at 317 lbs back in January and having a bet on with a very close friend that I couldn't trim down to 235 lbs, I find myself most of the way there but having stalled. Over the past 4 month's I've officially lost almost 50 lbs and at a much trimmer 270 lbs... enter plateau.
As for my background, I'm a single athletic trainer living in Long Island, NY and I've pretty much always been on the big side. Well built muscularly, but a very fair amount of pudgy as well. I've always dreamed of being slimmer and have rarely made an attempt to change that until now.
After researching Dr. Atkin's diet and philosophy, and having a master's degree in exercise science, I've decided it was time for a change. The "reduced caloric intake with ample exercise" has worked well for me up until a few weeks ago, and now I find myself behind schedule. It's time for me to destroy the intense craving of carbohydrates and reset my metabolism to be the best fat burning machine that it should be!
I look forward to mingling with the community and banding together with everyone to help us all reach our goals of a slimmer waistline as well as a much longer, healthier life!
