Do heart rate monitors/calorie counters really work?
In general yes. It measures work off your heart rate and gives an average. There are extreme conditions where it's not so accurate. Your heart rate is high doing a simpler exercise say an arm curl at 160bpm but you would be burning a lot more calories swimming at the same 160bpm.

Use it as a gauge for yourself on whatever activities you like to do. I use mine as my own personnal trainer to know I am working hard enough or if I need to slow down because I crossed from fat burning to cardio focus.

Fat % Math incorrect?
So it as an energy source, not the raw numbers?

Fat % Math incorrect?
I have several days of data where I have numbers in the carb and protein are around 100 each and the fat is around 60g. When I goto the pie graphs they all show that my fat percentage is a lot higher than the other two. Does it not do the math correctly?

Fasting and muscle loss controversy
As an FYI, I am three weeks past the last day of the competition I was in and basically took a week off exercising and not junk food but not counting calories that first week either. Weight stabilized back with eating and exercise at 226lbs (5lb increase where I was three weeks ago)now.

I had anticipated a little bit of a yo-yo effect being extreme like this. I chose to fast for both weight loss and to detoxify my body.

I am going to look into protein back in the diet because my goal is a healthy body now, more than strict pounds off and detox.

My post was more focused on IF I wanted to do another juice fast (3-5 days) again would I loose the muscle gains I now have (not much in just the last few weeks!) My data was apparently skewed due to running not really a muscle builder...
