Hello everyone,
I'm starting to keep track of my eating habits and weight because I was just recently diagnosed as prediabetic. The doctor says that diet and exercise will do me a lot of good. So I said to myself "It's time for a life style change". Wish me luck!

UPDATE:

A little more about me,I'm married and I have 3 children ages 12, 10, and 4. All of whom keep me busy. All of my kids are at ages where it's great to play with them. That's another reason for wanting to lose the pounds. I'd like to play with my kids without getting winded and out of breath within 2 minutes of starting an activity. I'd also like to be a good example for them by showing them healthy choices. I'd like to be thinner for my hubby to. I was thinner when we met 5 years ago, and my weight has yo-yo'd since the birth of our son. He's never complained, and still tells me I'm beautiful. Still chases me like it's puppy love, but I guess I want to be able to feel beautiful when he tells me so, instead of feeling like he's saying it because I'm his wife.

I started my new lifestyle change about 1 month before I found FS, and had no weight loss. I was trying to count calories on my own carrying around paper and pen, and sometimes guessing. Then I found FS and by the next month I had made progress. When I first started out calorie counting I thought I was starving. I felt like the cat in my profile pic who's eating an invisible sandwich. Angry and hungry. Now with all the information and support I've gotten here my goal doesn't seem impossible anymore. I've got the tools to make it happen. So thanks FS!

Weight Problems May Begin in the Womb
I personally find articles like these rubbish, but that is my own opinion because I had large babies weighing in at 8lbs 2oz, 9lbs 1oz, and then 10lbs even. One of them is now a teenager, one a preteen, and neither are over weight, nor have ever been. My last, the one that weighed in at 10lbs, is not what I would consider over weight since the rest of his measurements (like his height) match his weight perfectly. He's just a big kid, but portioned right. So saying that babies with high birth weights are bound to be fat, just makes me scream. It's ignorant. Would you say the same about babies with low birth weights? That they will never be able to gain weight? See how stupid it sounds...

No, I do not have excess skin after losing 100 pounds
I would think that would be obvious from the pics you post. I see no hints of anything extra tucked in anywhere Wink You look nice Kate, and I really liked the over lay you did on your blog.

Nuts.....
Often the simplest answers are the best. Thank you, I will definately try that because as I was reading your post, Jas, it occured to me that by just adding them to other foods, I could even use less than say a handful. I have a mixer that can grind them up, or chop, or basically what ever I'd like so that's really a great idea for me. Thank you very much.

Nuts.....
Ok, I will be the one who confesses. I am afraid of nuts. There I said it. I just don't know how to properly manage them into my diet without going over my calorie limit. I'm not blaming the nuts, but since nuts aren't my favorite thing to eat I've just stayed away from them. Then I learned they could be quite beneficial to me with my dietetary needs, so now I just don't know what to do. Everytime I've tried to fit them in, I've failed. But again I say, not the fault of the nut.

Do you set interim goals?
I set a loose goal. I see my doctor and dietetion every x amount of weeks, as long as I've lost weight by my next appointment/weigh in I am happy. I don't care if it's 1 pound or 15 pounds lost; just as long as it's NOT gained.
