I'm 23 years old and I have battled with obesity my entire life. When I was young, I was really thin. I hit puberty around 12 or 13 and that's when the weight started coming with it. In high school, I always considered myself fat but looking back now, I wish I could be back to the weight I was in high school. I've dieted on and off for years. I lost 30 pounds from December 2007 until May 2008 after I broke up with an ex boyfriend. Now though, I have gained back that 30 plus another 30. I hit my all time high of 240 pounds after working at a summer camp for the 6th year in a row. They serve all fried and processed foods. At the time, I was eating more than one serving everyday of the lunch that they served so I gained weight extremely fast this summer. That's when I hit my low point...the lowest I have ever been. I hated myself. I cried all the time. I was tired of this and knew nobody else was to blame but myself. That's when I joined a gym.

I've reached a few goals since starting my journey in September 2010. I was really motivated and started losing in September but then I started slacking and did not do much in October and November. I picked it back up and started dieting again and exercising in December. I try to exercise everyday and I stick to my diet all week. I usually end up having 1 or 2 (try to aim for the 1 though) spike days a week to kick start my metabolism again.

I always change it to sleeping and resting burning 1 calorie which gives me 2 total calories of that per day then I add my regular exercise at the gym.

Obsession...
I work 5 days a week as a substitute teacher. Still trying to find a permanent job somewhere but that probably won't happen until at least April. I also bartend some nights over the weekend so I'm constantly on the go. I barely see my friends anymore. I only do on Fridays (it's our one night a week out and we enjoy that time very much). There's not much support I have at home and with my friends. So I've been trying to avoid them and continue on this journey alone. It's hard most days but I do have one person that supports me. However, he also thinks it has become an obsession.

Obsession...
I've lost 42 pounds to date but just recently joined this site. I feel like since I started counting calories and keeping track of the foods I'm eating and the exercises I'm performing, I have become obsessed. I have been trying to jump start my metabolism every week (zig zag dieting) so I eat more one day of the week. I try to exercise everyday at the gym and spend at least an hour doing cardio and then a half hour weight training. I'm burning more calories than I am consuming. Today, a nasty snow storm stranded me in my house after work and I could not make it to the gym. I've been in a panic all day over this. I feel like I have become obsessed with dieting and exercise. I feel like a complete failure right now because I did not exercise today and the foods I ate over the weekend. Help? Sad
