After my husband passed away April 29, 2013, my weight was stable for awhile. About a year later I was offered a part time job in a computer repair shop. I loved getting back into technology. I had gained weight, but got back on the horse again and trimmed down. That lasted for awhile until I injured my right foot, got depressed, evening snacking again (my all time nemesis), plus lots of changes in my life. I've moved to a different state & retired again. Things had finally settled down & then comes along Covid. 2020 sucked! June 2021 and things seem more normal again. fingers crossed!

How do I remain motivated?
This January I weighed 177 lbs. I'm only 4' 10". YIKES, was I ever fat! So my goal was to lose 50 lbs. 1st step was I stopped eating after dinner and chewed 5 calorie gum until my jaw hurt... LOL My caloric goal is 1400 calories MAX, but if I'm not as active, 1200 calories to lose weight. I weighed, measured & logged everything I ate. It was a pain but the only thing that kept me on track. After my 1st 10 lbs lost, I dusted off the elliptical and started with just 5 minutes which was very tiring, but I had to start somewhere. Gradually I worked up to 30 minutes. About 3 months ago I started doing yoga. My 1st DVD had 2 - 30 minute programs, one for AM, one for PM. Once I got the hang of the poses, I ordered 3 more DVD's, 50 to 60 minutes each. I alternate so I don't get bored. I do yoga everyday and elliptical 3 times a week now.

The scale used to be my enemy, but I weigh everyday now. If the scale starts to go up, I either increase exercise THAT DAY or cut back to 1400 calories. I'm below 130 for the 1st time in several years, have so much more energy & got rid of many of my aches and pains. Daily stretching is phenomenal!

I eat all the foods I enjoy, but a lot less. I need to watch carbs, focusing more on protein and veggies and drink herbal tea throughout the day. If I want something sweet, I keep Zone bars in the cupboard. Larabars are a good healthy snack too.

Do things that you enjoy and it will make the task of losing AND maintaining your desired weight much easier.

Elliptical Training
When I started doing the elliptical again I was only able to do 5 minutes! Now I regularly do 30 minutes with a 5 minute cool down while peddling backwards. Just recently added two 50 minute stints a couple of times a week. The best time for me to workout is late in the evening. I know the "standard" recommendations are no exercise after about 5pm, but 10pm works best for my schedule. Then I do relaxation yoga for 30 minutes. And I sleep like a baby.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Every morning and log my weight. If the number goes up, I spring into action THAT DAY. Most effective was to turn things around for me is to add extra time to the elliptical that evening. I usually do 30 minutes with a 5 minutes cool down. For a couple of evenings I upped it to 50 minutes with a 10 minutes cool down. That really gave my metabolism a boost. No matter the diet, it's all about less calories and more exercise.

Barcode Scanner on Droid Keeps Crashing
I'm using the HTC Aria. The barcode red line appears, but when I lay the item's barcode across the red line, nothing happens. Am I supposed to press something else (like the combo joystick/camera button)?
2 Days later...
OK, I finally figured it out... DUH... it's like taking a picture.
Yes, it works great for me now too... LOL

Android App
I'm a newbie to android phones and just getting used to my htc Aria. Just downloaded the app for FatSecret. So when I click on Sync, enter ID and pwd, I have these 2 options; neither option looks very desirable. To date all my data is on the website. Any help greatly appreciated.
1) Clear phone data:
Existing phone data will be lost and replaced with historical data from FatSecret
2) Use phone data:
FatSecret historical data will be lost and replaced with phone data
