I'm just a guy in my 20's trying to make a difference in my health; trying to be a better person for my wife and son. I am fully determined to do what it takes to be healthy!!

My name is James. I love music: listening, writing, playing, you name it. I love to eat and I have a huge appetite, which is why I'm here :)
I've never been overweight. I was always the athletic kid around town. Always doing something physical. It's been hard for me to look in the mirror and accept that I am not that way anymore; that I am overweight and need to make changes in my life. It's time kick this in the ass.

I agree on logging your food daily!! It is a huge help to know what exactly your taking in on a daily basis. I started off by making smart changes in my eating habits, things that I already knew were bad for me like: soda, fast food, just things that we all know are junk! Ate lots of veggies, chicken, tuna, egg whites and fruit for breakfast. Kept my calorie level as close to my RDI as I could each day and I lost 6 lbs my first week! Short non extreme workouts are good too. Aerobics, walking etc.. Any general beginner workout dvd should do. I hope any of that will help, congrats on joining the fight!

What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
Some think that guys aren't suppose to worry about what they look like. I do. I want to wear clothes that I like; clothes that fit the way they're supposed to fit. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look good, just in a confident way. I don't want to be force to "suck it in" every time I'm around a group of people. I'm tired of having no energy to play with my son like I should. It all got very overwhelming and I simply made a choice to lose weight and ultimately feel better about myself.

what did you control yourself from eating today that was sooo bad for you???
Most definitely Double Cheeseburgers from Mcdonald's. I was craving one on the way home, didn't get one of course! I used to eat 5 at a time, twice a week for the past 7 years until I started changing my eating habits.

Wii Games
I agree. A great substitute when regular routines aren't available. It is limited as far as intensity but it's still versatile! I am actually thinking about getting one; I can't make it to the gym because of my schedule. AND, they are reasonably priced compared to other gaming consoles, although, you could just get some aerobic tapes/dvd's for cheaper and feel just as satisfied.

Calorie Intake

I know it's hard to believe that you're burning 4658 sitting around, but you probably are. The body has to work really hard to sustain itself when it's wrapped in so much excess weight. The only reason your RDI came out to 3658 is because when you're starting out with weight loss, a 1000 calorie deficit is a good place to start. But if you're comfortable with an intake of 1500-2000 & you're losing, I don't see a problem with it.

Listen to your body...if you start feeling tired or hungry often, you're probably not eating enough. Or you might not be eating the right stuff. I noticed that for today you only had 47g of protein, so I'm hoping it's just an incomplete day. You'll probably experience this if you increase your level of exercise too, & that's normal.

It's a process, you'll make adjustments all along the way as your body's needs change, but you'll get better & better at it all the time. Welcome!
I really like what you said about listening to your body; It can't always be about crunching numbers. Our bodies are very honest when it comes to what they want. good tip!!
