I'm a wife, mother and grandmother of 3. Need to lose 50-60 pounds to get to a healty weight. Have done WW 3 times, but when I stop going, it all comes back and more. I think WW allows me too much leeway, and too many excuses. I read the SB book after my brother recommended it, and realized that years ago, before "fat free" came along, this was the way I used to eat. (and I was 80 pounds lighter then). SB makes a lot of sense. It's also helped me "rediscover" fresh cooking - herbs, veggies....The first few weeks were tough - some unexpected "life issues" may have slowed me down, but they didn't stop me, and now it's much easier. I have a (delayed)50th b-day celebration in July and want to be in great shape for it, so that's my inspiration.

Embarassed I'm "re-joining" fat secret after abandoning it in July. I made the mistake of setting a goal to lose weight for my birthday celebration and never thought past it. As a result, after the party, I stopped SB and gained back all the 22 poounds I had lost up until then. (Not one of my smartest moves!) Now, I find myself back at the starting point, but thinking differently. I don't have any time limit on my weight loss - because I don't want to think that I am dieting - I want to know that I'm changing my lifestyle and therefore eating healthier. And I could use the support from fat secret again......

If you're thinking about SB vs WW: Here's why SB is so much better for me. I started SB diet Jan 6 - I'm down 21 pounds so far, with 30 to go. (Yay for me!). But the best news is that my bad cholesterol is down 25 points! When I was on WW, I lost 18 pounds, but my bad cholesterol went up 30 points! I realize that on WW, I counted points, and didn't focus so much on nutrition - because if I worked it right, I ate my veggies and they were low/no points, so I could still have my sweets as long as my points stayed under control. Not a good thing for a sweet addict! I know that WW preaches good nutrition, but with the points, they give someone like me too many excuses to still eat sweets. With SB, I don't have cravings (really), so I don't eat the sweets....It's a lot of planning to make sure I have the right foods in the house, but so worth it.
