I took a week off on the diet. Work has been super-stressful, enough to tip me over the edge into serious physical symptoms...which has also interfered with exercising that I was pretty faithful about doing until 2-3 weeks ago. Not worrying about the diet was one way I could do self-care last week. I gave myself permission to just hang with friends and eat whatever, but then I did an honest inventory afterwards. Calories are CRAZY high when I don't plan ahead! Good to know it really does make a difference.

I am back on the diet as of today. Lunch wasn't terrific from a low-moderate carb standpoint (I just REALLY wanted a chicken quesadilla!), but my overall day was fine. I also started up the exercise regimen, and am switching to only every other day. My doctor is referring me to a cardiologist to explore my symptoms further, and then I am supposed to alternate every other day with exercise by doing stretching and meditation for my self-care.

The week off the diet was sort of fun, but not as much fun as I thought it would be. I actually like my healthier eating, and except for having to think about what I eat first, it's really not unpleasant. I'm not going super restrictive on calories, so I don't feel deprived, and yet I've been losing weight slowly but surely.
