My background for fitness was mostly been through long distance running with a diet high in carbs based on what I had been taught. With the transition from running to crossfit as well as reading the Runner's Body, I've slowly been changing the way that I eat and "trying" to avoid the processed foods and bad habits I've created. And to be honestly, I have more energy when I eat right.
It's been a slow transition away from carbs and processed foods to the paleo/zone diet. I initially didn't want to change my lifestyle, give up dessert or invest in the "kitchen" for it. However, I've slowly added a few items here and there and have been using recipes to keep myself focused.
I few areas where I need to focus are 1. making sure I change the foods I eat so I don't run to a vending machine, 2. make sure I eat before I feel hungry (I tend to eat whatever I can find at that point) and 3. make sure I prepare all my meals at the beginning of the week.... one more, 4. finding alternatives for dessert.
