Thought I should write a better bio or at least try. I'm just shy of 46 (in 4 days) and married. We have 12 furry children (1 cat, 11 dogs) on 42 acres out in no where. Its 60 miles to go grocery shopping, 20 miles to the post office and a quarter mile to mail box.
I'm hoping with this site I'll keep from getting discouraged to point I quit. Most of my weight is in the middle and being only 5 foot flat look like an oompa-loompa, but looks isn't the main reason I want to lose. I want to lose for health and energy.
I'm not looking at this as a diet but lifestyle change. I want to not only lose but keep the weight off. If I'm having this hard of a time now I can't imagine how hard it would be in 10 or 20 years. That's it for now.

You should be getting 25 grams fiber a day at least. Beans have the highest fiber of any food. And as said here you really need lots of water.

VERY slow weight loss!
Maybe the low carb diet isn't right for you.

One last thing though, Jp. I do feel that the modifications on food is going to have very long lasting effect. They say some heritage beans taste like meat and have twice as much protein and fiber than what we can now get in stores. We not only have to take control of what goes into our body but control of what we will allow the capitalistic companies do to our food.

I agree, jparlett. Capitalistic greed will always be around. In the end we decide what goes into our mouth. I myself know that corn syrup causes my blood sugar to spike then drop out till I'm sick. So I watch what I eat and make sure I eat something to balance it out if I do eat something higher in syrup. IE if I have canned tomato soup (which I love) I have to eat something high protein/fiber with it. I grew up in Alaska and the natives there eat a very high fat diet. They keep healthy cause it's "good" fat. Knew some native that were in Afghanistan and were getting sick from the heat. Their family sent them seal blubber and they stopped getting sick.
The Maasai story is interesting not for the fact that they're more active. We already know exorcise counters what we eat, but for the fact that new research is showing that whole fats in milk and cheeses and such has health benefits. Once again shows balance of what eaten with exorcise is key to health.

Corn syrup may not make you fat but it does mess with blood sugar a lot. The body has to do almost nothing to absorb it which drives up blood sugar fast then causes a major insulin dump and it all becomes a viscous cycle. All things need to be in moderation and that includes corn syrup, sodium and gluten, all three of which are used too often in processed foods. God only knows what GMO's and Monsanto is doing to us.
