I have used food, in the past, to self medicate, as my drug of choice, to deal with my depression, bi-polar disorder, and Aspergers Syndrome. I have got my depression and bi-polar disorder with medication, therapy, my religious beliefs, and help from my support system. The Aspergers can't be helped with medication, but I deal with it, with therapy, my religion, and support system. My weigh problem was and is aggravated by sleep apnea. I have had several sleep studies and deal, with the Apnea, with a CPAP machine, that I use every night. My weight problem also contributed to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes. I control the cholesterol with diet and medication. I control the high blood pressure with diet and medication. My severe weight gain, in the past, has led to me having double bypass heart surgery in Autumn of 2008. My heart is fine now controlled with diet, exercise, and medication. I have had lap band bariatric surgery, with ply-cation, in Autumn of 2011. I have had several adjustments since. Before I had the surgery I was 350 lbs, in the Spring, of 2011. With the weight loss I was able to eliminate one of the two medications I take, for blood pressure, and I was able to eliminate my diabetes medications and I control my diabetes now with diet alone. I was down to 205 lbs, by the Summer of 2012, but then I severely deviated, from my weight loss program, and I put back 40 lbs and I pretty much was stabilized, at that weight, for over a year. This past June I recommitted, to my weight loss program, and as of June 25th, I am down to 232 lbs and I weigh myself every two weeks. I eat a low fat, low carb, with very low processed sugars, that is high in protein diet and I calculate that I burn between 2500 and 2800 Calories a day and I have been eaten between 1500 and 1800 Calories a day, with a few planned deviations here and there, but no completely blowing up my diet.
