My basal rate continues to drop. I have started a diabetes tracking log again (used to run one constantly for the first year on the pump)to nail down exactly where I need to adjust. I increased my correction factor from 1 unit of insulin for 30 mg/dl blood glucose, to 1 unit for 60 mg/dl. That has helped my postprandial lows considerably. By rotating fasting periods from day to day I am getting a handle on the different basal rate adjustments I need to make at different times of day (higher in the midnight to noon period than in the noon to midnight period). What worked at 250 lbs is not working at 172. My insulin to carb ratio of 1 unit to 10g carbs has stayed the same since 200 lbs. As has my hypoglycemic correction factor of 1 gram of dextrose for every 6 mg/dl that blood glucose is below normal. Still occasionally battling with dawn phenomenon but that has been mitigated somewhat by taking my evening metformin 2 hrs later.

Re-designated my diet as Paleo again. After ~6 weeks of Jonathan Bailor's SANE diet, I decided that it falls under the Paleo umbrella. May as well align with the Paleo folks since we're basically on the same page.

Basal insulin requirements continue to drop. Yesterday I didn't require a bolus until supper at 8:30pm. So I went without bolus insulin for 24hrs. Interesting. After a night of BGs in the 70's and 80's (per CGM) at 4AM this morning I got a rise in BG that I assume was Dawn Phenomenon. I treated with several boluses over the morning and fasted 'til noon, at which time it was back into the 80's and I had lunch. We'll see what happens this afternoon.

Weight has been well controlled in the low 170's and body fat in the 14% range. With high energy and endurance, I'm good to go. I'll keep everything the same and see how my blood tests come out later this month/early next month. This way of eating is very easy to follow and I can't see a problem maintaining it for life.
