Eating back your burned calories?
Each of you is correct. Here is an example that might help.
My doc recommended I eat 2500 calories per day, if I want to maintain my current weight without any exercise. I'm targeting 2000 calories per day to lose a few pounds.
When I workout, I track my calories burned. I will consume these calories back with healthy food choices, provided I do not go above the 2000 calories per day.
The danger in not re-consuming these calories is if you go below the metabolic needs to keep you healthy, sometimes noted as “bmr”. Going below that limit, your body goes into “starvation mode”, and weight loss will not proceed well (muscle loss, etc). For me, that is ~1750 calories per day. That's why I need to eat after working out.
