Got introduced to fatsecrets by my brother in law who is a professional body builder and a fitness genius. Long story short, I am 40 and been type 1 insulin dependent diabetic since I was 9. About 4 years ago I completely let myself go. Got up to 240lbs, in size 40 pants, and my blood sugar was way out of control. My doctor sat me down one day and came out and told me, very bluntly, if I didn’t change my way of living I was going to die soon, his next question out of his mouth was, “now how old are you girls?” Life changing wake up call for me, the next day I joined a gym. Not knowing really nothing about working out or how to probably eat, I pretty much wasted a lot of time and money, with little results. Then one day a friend of mine introduced me to crossfit. It was a love/hate thing for me. I finally found something that was worked for me and as much as I hated doing it, I started seeing results and losing weight. The crossfit helped me get the exercise part down but my diet was what needed work. I did lose weight, (now down to 188 and in size 32 pants) but it seemed liked I plateaued out. Turns out, I was so afraid of gaining my weight back I really didn’t eat much of nothing at all. That is where fatsecrets has helped. I am finding out that I can eat, see exactly what I am eating, which helps me control my blood sugar levels, and helps me plan meals ahead of time. Still have a long ways to go, but not stopping now.
