15 October 2014

Yesterday marked my 1 year anniversary with Weight Watchers. Although I lost 16 pounds at one point, I’ve fluctuated a bit. Today, I’m down 13.4 pounds. I didn’t reach my ultimate goal and I’ve seen a few ups and downs on the scale, but I made significant progress this year while learning a great deal about myself. I identified and embraced my weaknesses and succumbed to them a few too many times. But, I also learned that making healthy choices and indulging don’t have to exist in a tug-of-war. Balance can be achieved through patience, consistency, persistence and, more importantly, self forgiveness.

Reflections:
Dancing for an hour at Zumba is a highlight of my week. I committed to going once a week; I didn’t miss a week since December except when we traveled.

I can be quiet, sit still and find inner peace through yoga.

Hot yoga was terrifying and unique as I’ve never truly loved and hated something at the same time for 90-minutes. Realizing 90 degree heat feels cool after class was exhilarating.

I can see a few muscles in my shoulders, arms and legs that I haven’t seen before.

Fitting into a smaller pants size is an incredible feat…always.

I can do a headstand.

Pomegranate seeds, roasted beets, quinoa, farro, avocados sprinkled with sea salt, and baby tomatillos ,which to me taste like balls of honey, are amazing.

Prepping and packing my food every day is a pain in the ass, but essential.

My $18 a month subscription is worth every penny when I stick to the plan and remain accountable for my choices. Investing in myself is priceless.

I am grateful to Tobi, Lizzie and all of you for supporting me all year; hearing me rant, vent, cry and obsess for 12 months is exhausting. I recognize and thank you.

I am not giving up. I have more work to do and there’s always room to improve.

Year 1 is behind me. Year 2 has begun.
Year 2 Start Weight = 125.4
Goal #1 = 121 (exceeds my 16 pound weight loss success that I reached earlier this year.)
Target Date = December 14, 2014
Weigh in Day = Changed from Mondays to Wednesdays (my lowest weight for the week is usually Wednesdays, I’ll take all of the positives that I can get).
